Happy Friday Everyone! Attached are reminders of upcoming events and an expression of faith of one of our parishoners. Attached are three upcoming events: 1. A letter from Carla Millien Come Home ​The decision to merge the churches of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (OLMC) and Immaculate Conception is heartbreaking. ​While it is true that over the years there has been a decline in parishioners, I believe this is in response to the numerous scandals that have surrounded Catholic priests. Many of the priest are now cautious about the way they serve the people, especially the youth, resulting in a lack of pastoral care. We are losing our young people to the evil in this world. We are like sheep without a shepherd. This is why OLMC is mostly occupied by seniors who have a firm foundation in their faith. In response to this decline, Archbishop Meyers should have taken positive action and tried to work in a manner to restore faith by reaching out to those in need of the love of God. Rather, this “merger” is causing a greater loss of trust and faith, working completely against the mission of Christ. We, parishioners, are also to blame for some of our members leaving the Church. We are the hands, feet, eyes, ears, and mouth of Christ. We need to practice what we preach, and in doing so, show others the true meaning of living for Christ. Take the time to greet your neighbor. A simple smile, or a kind gesture, will spread warmth and love, and may even touch one’s heart. We are praying for a perpetual adoration chapel of the Blessed Sacrament at OLMC. Young adults: I am sorry for how we have failed you, but God is waiting for you with open and loving arms. Consider surrendering one hour to Jesus. Have him heal your hurt.
