Today is the official launch of the Tiny Ears campaign in Canada. Thank you so much for your support so far, as one of the first people to sign you have shown tremendous leadership, and we already have great momentum around this issue with so many passionate and heartfelt comments left for the Health Minister to read. "I did not get a hearing aid until 5 year old and had to repeat kindergarten because speech was not developed enough." "This should be a right for all children, not just those lucky enough to live in a province with screening." "I'm signing because our son was very lucky to have had access to the right tests and resources from birth and on. I have been affected by this in my life, through friends and family and have seen and heard of the importance of early diagnosis. Early diagnosis can mean the difference between your child hitting their developmental milestones and not, and can eliminate improper mental diagnosis from health care professionals. Without these tests, traditional means of detecting hearing loss require a child to be receptive to giving the appropriate feedback, at which point they may be already 5 years old and have fallen behind their peers."
