Hi folks, I apologize for this off-topic update. This is an urgent situation. On June 29th, despite raising his hands and surrendering, the Edmonton Police Service shot and killed 28 year-old Mathios Arkangelo.
Mathios was a son, father, spouse, brother, uncle, nephew, friend, and a cherished member of the Black community. He was a talented musician, a dedicated athlete, and a devoted family man who worked tirelessly to provide for and protect his loved ones.
Over the past few weeks, I have been working with the Arkangelo family in getting justice for Mathios. We have shared the full 25-minute interaction that Mathios had with EPS. We also have attached here a copy of the timeline for those who don't want to see the violence that was inflicted upon Mathios.
He had both of his hands raised and didn't deserve to die like this. If you can, please sign this petition with the family's demands calling for; the release of the autopsy report, the suspension of the involved officer, and a prompt investigation by ASIRT.
