We begin this campaign update with a heartfelt thanks to everyone who has signed our petition. We now have over 5,000 signatures calling on the government to prioritise reminding car drivers to #TakeAnotherLook for motorcyclists.
The momentum you have helped create through this petition has led us to engage with policymakers; it has allowed us to collaborate with Police Scotland’s motorcycle unit and open talks with car and motorcycle dealerships. We’ve made great progress, encouraging those who can influence road safety to rethink their perceptions of motorcyclists and revise how they formulate road safety measures. But we are pushing for more.
Reading the comments left on the petition page, we know many of you have experienced dangerous situations on the road all over the world. Some of you have had the same life-shattering experiences as Tracey, Maureen and Jacqueline, who inspired our campaign. Thank you to Michelle Thorne, Vicky McSkimming and Ian Dominick, who have now also told their stories and added their backing to the campaign. If you have not seen these, I encourage you to visit the webpage http://www.takeanotherlook.co.uk
Whilst there, you can read other ways you can spread this important message. Download and print the double-sided A5 leaflet and pop it onto a few car window-screens near where you live. Download and print a few of Sam’s A4 posters and pop these onto your noticeboards at work or in cafes near where you live. Download some of the social media assets and share them across your own social networks with your own messaging.
With your continued help, we will get the number of signatures up to 10,000 in no time.
Thank you again. Your dedication and active participation have been instrumental in driving our campaign forward, and we are grateful for your continued support.
