California State Bar Challenged to Act Against Sponsor of “Sodomite Suppression Act;”
But One Month Later, Bar Governors fails to even acknowledge complaint
Over 137,000 people have signed on-line petition seeking to disbar Huntington Beach Attorney Matthew McLaughlin, the writer of a proposed initiative advocating murder of LGBT Californians, but to date the State Bar has failed to respond to petitioners or to any official complaint.
(SACRAMENTO) – With the State Bar of California set to meet at its San Francisco headquarters this Thursday and Friday (May 7 & 8), Sacramento Political Consultant Carol Dahmen has issued the following statement renewing her request that the California State Bar investigate and disbar Initiative Proponent Matthew McLaughlin, a California-licensed attorney currently in private practice in Huntington Beach.
“Nearly a month has passed since I lodged an official complaint with the State Bar of California seeking the disbarment of Matthew McLaughlin, the Orange County attorney responsible for proposing the “Sodomite Suppression Act,” a reprehensible proposal urging the murder of LGBT Californians and their supporters.
“More than 137,000 people have signed the Change.org petition supporting my complaint. No law-abiding citizen, much less an attorney and an officer of the court, has the right to murder their fellow man. And no competent attorney would waste the Court’s time and the taxpayers’ money to provide title and summary for such a patently unconstitutional initiative.”

(Ed’s – The ‘Sodomite Suppression Act’, is a proposed initiative for the November 2016 ballot that would, among other things, make it the duty of all Californians to “put to death by bullets to the head or by any other convenient method” members of the LGBT community. It would forbid members of the LGBT community and their supporters from holding public office or receiving public benefits and establish fines of up to $1 million for the spreading of LGBT “propaganda.” It would also forbid judicial review by any court other than the California Supreme Court, but only if that court is purged of “sodomites.”)
