Dear Friends:
The GLOBAL CLIMATE ACTION SUMMIT is almost here. It will take place in San Francisco, California, from Wednesday 9/12 to Friday 9/14, 2018 at the Moscone Center.
This Summit could turn out to be a gathering of "stuffed shirts" where Supervisors, Governors, Mayors, Presidents, Corporate Executives, Kings and Non-Profit Executive Directors, bang their chests while they cry about how bad is Climate Change for our children and grandchildren and boast their "achievements" in the "Climate Change fight".
But it could also be the greatest opening to the massive and speedy mobilization to REALLY deal with Climate Change, before "Climate Change deals with us".
The difference in the outcome is up to us. We can have a lot of influence on the outcome if we put a lot of pressure on our local and state governments to officially commit at the Summit to immediately start the transformation of our territories to become CLIMATE CHANGE-READY TERRITORIES.
Those public and binding, commitments are a significan part of the purpose of the Summit, that, if activated by our representatives, they can move the world out of the death spiral by Climate Change we are currently in.
The commitments must be about declaring States Of Emergency by issuing Climate Change Major Disaster or Emergency Declarations, with the goal of creating Climate Change Readiness in Climate Restoration and Climate Change Adaptation.
Please be clear, WE NEED A TOTAL AND IMMEDIATE TRANSFORMATION OF OUR ECONOMIES AND SOCIETIES. Promises of reducing GHG emissions by certain year, or installing more solar panels, reducing waste, eating more vegetables, etc., will not do it.
Like in a world war, all resources must be used and they must be used now. DO NOT BUY INTO ANY OFFER TO DELAY THE MASSIVE RESPONSE IN ALL ASPECTS OF SOCIETY THAT CLIMATE CHANGE REQUIRES. Every day we delay that massive action, is a day closer to the destruction of life, the environment and civilization.
Contact your supervisors, City Council Members and Governors with this message and tell them that they are not going to be welcome home if they have not carried out our mandate to commit to Climate Change Readiness.
THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY. LET'S NOT MISS IT.
And you can also help this petition grow to many thousands of signatures and surpass the "abandoned dog-type" of petitions that can get 100,000 signatures in a couple of weeks. We love dogs, but it is distressing that Climate Change, which has the potential to kill most of the dogs in the world (and other species), does not get, at least, the same popularity.
