Since our petition the neighborhood has definitely been a lot cleaner. Additionally a few trash cans have been reinstated to their original spots. However, there are still no trash cans on Utica Ave and St. Johns Ave (a corner that is a two way street with 4 bus stops and ample foot traffic) and only 1 trash can on Lincoln Place (a corner that is filled with debris and only 1 block away from the MTA subway station). Additionally, there have been no added trash cans along St. Johns Ave. Most importantly there are NO trash enclosures.
I highly encourage everyone to attend this meeting. Clean streets are important for multiple reasons. Not only does everyone deserve sanitary conditions, but having trash filled streets kill the moral of neighborhood residents. It also invites crime. Let's take a real interest in our communities and demand for them to be the places we deserve to live.
Best,
