Can anyone  imagine BSA President Jim Turley, when he ran Ernst & Young, proposing the idea of holding back qualified female executives? Holding female Scouts back, barring them from earning the Eagle Rank, for another year is garden variety gender discrimination. Why keep young women from receiving all the advantages of being Eagle Scouts, such as highlighting  “Eagle Scout” on their college applications and resumes.  Why prevent female scouts from competing for Eagle scholarships?  If the BSA leadership wants to build the scouting program, it must treat all Scouts equally, including recognizing the Eagle Rank when it is earned, not a year from now.
