First, thank you to everyone who showed up on April 20th and thank you for your understanding in the cancellation of the Selle Valley Reconsideration Hearing.

The new hearing is scheduled for Wednesday May 4th at 1:30

1st floor conference room of the County Building

Folks this is a huge case – the outcome of which will likely have significant ramifications going forward.  If the County Commissioners do not see our faces, they think that we don’t care so we must show up in numbers again. If you can’t attend in person, that’s ok, you can attend on Zoom:

https://www.bonnercountyid.gov/BOCCHearings

This rezone application would allow the property owner to DOUBLE the allowed density by reducing the lot sizes from 20-acre lots to 10-acre lots. This will allow 71 lots to be created instead of the currently allowed 35. Please CLICK HERE  if you want some talking points and history of the case.

MAY IS A BUSY MONTH!

May is a busy month for KBCR and we have many hearings to highlight. We ask you to attend as many as you can within the limits of your time.

May 5th RV Parks as “affordable housing”

Idaho Land, LLC has proposed a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) in the Blanchard area in a Rural 5 zoning designation to build an RV Park that will be year-round living and developed under the guise of “affordable housing.”

File number: CUP0030-21.

We have suspected for a while that the county would start allowing RV Parks around the county as “affordable housing.”  Well, here’s the first one – it’s in the southern part of our county and you can be sure that if they allow it, they will spring up anywhere including in your neck of the woods. We need more work-force housing but this is just not the way to do it.

Commissioner McDonald’s new Zoning Commission will hear this file on May 5th and they get the final say - it  will only go to the commissioners on an appeal (for $500 if I'm not mistaken)  Please come to the hearing to tell them that this is not the way to provide housing in our county. RV’s are meant for recreation, not "affordable" housing.

The developer of this lot (less than 5 acres), is proposing to QUADRUPLE the allowed dwelling unit density to 20 RV’s and with only one well that produces 30 GPM.

If we don’t stop this in its tracks, the next one could be right next to your property. A brave couple is fighting this RV affordable housing complex. Here is their website and petition: https://noruralrvhousingparks.com/

May 11th The County’s Code Amendment to make rezones permanent.

This amendment was in our Call-to-Action newsletter at the beginning of April, (Click Here to see).. Have you sent your letter in yet?

https://www.bonnercountyid.gov/FileAM0021-21

Please send it in this week and put the date on your calendar so we can convince the commissioners to hear KBCR’s code amendment first because it was submitted first.

May 25th, KBCR’s Code Amendment

KBCR’s Code Amendment (note that this application has been updated based on Planning and Zoning input and the revised amendment is not yet posted on the county’s website).

Please be sure to vote in the May 17th Primary because the primary decides who the next commissioners will be for District 2 and District 3. You get to vote for both districts regardless of what district you live in.

The only candidates that have promised to stop the irresponsible growth AND that have been stopping it for a year are Asia Williams and me.

None of us want to keep fighting this battle but we will be doing just that if we don’t get new commissioners that listen to and fight on behalf of and along side the people. Asia and I have already proven ourselves and as your commissioners we will stop the rubberstamping so we can Keep Bonner County Rural.

Thanks very much.
