Fantastic news as, in just 3 days, we have reached 100 signatures in our petition to support new, safer walking links in West Chesterton! Importantly, our petition has far exceeded an opposing petition that led to a knee jerk reaction from the developer to drop plans for a link between Westbrook Drive and Corona Road, citing "local feedback".
We will be sharing the petition with the developer and with local councillors in the coming days. We believe this petition sends a strong message that residents in West Chesterton need these vital walking links to enable quicker, safer walking that avoids the dangerous Mitcham's corner area (as shown in the photo). The developer must press on with the original plan to provide links to Corona Road, as well as those to Lilywhite Drive and Gilbert Road. There should be a proportionate response to any legitimate concerns about the links, rather than an outright ban at all times.
There is still time to sign our petition, so please continue to share it with members of your household, neighbours or anyone else who may benefit from these vital walking links.
Thank you so much for your support,
Nick
