I am delighted that we have already had a response from the Mayor. http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/boris-johnson-create-the-greaterlondonnationalpark/responses/11922 In the reply delivered by Greater London Authority's Public Liaison Unit there are a number of reasons given why he believes London cannot become a National Park. Reason 1 "..the evaluation framework for determining potential National Parks effectively excludes large urban areas." Reason 2 "..he does not have powers to ‘create’ a new class of urban National Park." I believe these reasons are highly encouraging. If having the power to name London as a National Park City is his only concern, we should do what we can to help him realise that he does have this power. He just has to choose to use it.
