On the Verge of Obtaining High-speed Internet: Our Turn to Act

Dear Neighbors, I am writing regarding the BEC Broadband Townhall Meeting which convened last night at the Boerne Public Library. First, I would like to thank everyone who attended the meeting as it was standing-room only. We had the opportunity to meet fellow neighbors and BEC Team Members including William Heatherington, BEC CEO, who presented information to attendees. Now the good news, BEC has heard our call for broadband and is prepared to move forward with providing it to our neighborhood. In order to proceed with the installation of hardware, they are asking for us to demonstrate our willingness to sign-on for their Internet service by completing a Broadband Agreement. The agreement is similar to that which was used for our electricity, however, is specific to their broadband service. To be clear, no funds are needed from us, in contrast, only a written agreement is needed indicating we will use their Internet service when available. BEC’s CEO would like to have 50% (of approximately 323 homes) of the neighborhood commit to the service before going to the BEC Board Meeting (late August) to obtain approval to proceed with the project. Upon obtaining approval from the BEC Board, we will have high-speed Internet in 4-6 months. You will have the option to choose one of three BEC Internet Plans (below) which are very competitive and significantly faster than currently available services: a. 15 MB/s $49.95 a month with a 2-year commitment b. 25 MB/s $74.95 a month with a 2-year commitment c. 50 MB/s $99.95 a month with a 2-year commitment Next Steps 1.
