The need for action is urgent, as highlighted by the recent situation in Germany, where Musk has repeatedly endorsed the far-right party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD). Germans must resist this manipulation and defend their democracy, refusing to let Musk use his platform to spread disinformation on critical political issues across Europe.
We are now thousands of Europeans united in demanding the ban of the harmful social media platform X in Europe. We must stop Musk’s interference in European politics by any means necessary, given his aggressive support for far-right movements in Germany, Italy, the UK, and beyond.
The fight against Musk’s influence in Europe can begin with the enforcement of European disinformation regulations, such as the DSA (Digital Services Act). The European Commission has already found Musk in violation of these laws, and we are calling on them to enforce their power and ban X in Europe immediately. The DSA regulations are well-established in Europe, and X has been under investigation for years. The enforcement of these laws should apply to all — no matter how rich or powerful the violator may be.
This isn’t just about fighting a manipulative social media platform — it’s about confronting the richest man in the world using his influence to push a fascist political agenda in Europe. This is the most blatant conflict of interest in modern politics, and it is a danger to democracy that must be stopped.
Elon Musk doesn't know about resistance against fascism in Europe. Let’s start giving him some first lessons on what is free speech in Europe, which starts in fact by silencing the fascists and taking down any of their tools to infiltrate democracy. Our grandparents fought to ban fascist and Nazi propaganda, and we passed laws to combat hate speech and the glorification of fascism. Let’s give Musk a history lesson.
I launched this petition before Trump’s victory, thanks to Musk’s support. As a digital rights activist, I was very concerned about the increasing use of X by Musk to spread disinformation and his alliances with far-right politicians in Europe. As a European, I will never accept his influence here — and I know you feel the same.
