First and foremost, a big THANK YOU to those people who have so far donated to LionAid since our last update. Your support allows us to continue this important campaign and hopefully win this first important battle for lions. And of course we continue to be thrilled as more and more of you sign the petition. We are now almost at 375,000 names! Please keep it going!

Tomorrow is a big day as we will get our first chance to meet the Environment Secretary Michael Gove, to whom this petition is addressed, and present the issues facing lions. It is the first step and a very important one.

Tomorrow afternoon there is an important debate in Westminster Hall, led by Zac Goldsmith MP,  on trophy hunting, asking the UK Government to ban trophy hunting imports. If you live in the UK, PLEASE contact your MP today and ask him or her to make the time available to attend this important Debate and support the call to ban LION trophy imports. We need as many MPs there as possible to support this Debate.

We will be there of course and we already have some MPs who are already planning to contribute on our behalf to this important Debate, and we are contacting all the MPs we know who are very supportive of wildlife issues, asking them to support also. We need our MPs to ROAR their support for a ban on lion trophy imports.

And finally, a big PLEA for support to help us fund this very important campaign and give us the wherewithal to not only win this battle but move on to the urgent conservation needs of African lions that include much needed population counts in key areas and establishing proven means for rural communities to prevent predator depredation of their valuable livestock assets.

Things are finally moving and we need your help!

More updates to follow in the coming days!
