Petition updateBAN CRUEL HARE COURSING IN IRELANDDoneDeal removes ads for coursing dogs

Classified ads website, DoneDeal, has this week removed adverts for coursing dogs.

The listings were deleted after ICABS pointed out to the company that they were in breach of Donedeal’s dog policy. The policy states: “No Coursing ads - Hares are protected under the Wildlife Acts, enforced by the National Parks and Wildlife Service, and the hunting of them is illegal. As we have no way of monitoring licensed or unlicensed coursing events, we have decided not to allow any reference to coursing. This is to ensure that the above Wildlife Act is adhered to.” https://www.donedeal.ie/reported/22584035

The removed ads referred to lurcher pups for sale whose mother is “a full hare coursing bitch”. Another “for sale” ad was for “exceptionally well bred coursing pups”.

In cruel coursing, dogs are released to terrorise hares which are netted from the wild for use as live lures. It’s time for this shameful bloodsport to be ended in Ireland.

Join us in our appeal to Minister Josepha Madigan to show compassion for the Irish Hares and refuse a 2019-2020 licence for coursing. This would be welcomed by the vast majority who want coursing banned.
