Petition updateBan African Elephant Trophy Imports Now!Stop the Cruel Trade in Elephants

Recently the Biden administration proposed new restrictions on U.S. imports of sport-hunted African elephant trophies, as well as trade in live elephants.

It’s a step in the right direction, but time is running out for these beloved creatures. To save them from extinction, we need to make a leap, not take a step.

Speak up for African elephants today by signing our petition.

The United States can make an outsized positive impact on the survival of elephants — because of the ugly fact that its trophy hunters kill so many of them. As one example, Zimbabwe reports that U.S. hunters have historically made up half of its wildlife-hunting market. Banning imports of elephant trophies — like heads, feet, tails, skins and ivory — would aid elephant populations and send a strong message that the United States doesn't support them being hunted for thrills.

Likewise, the United States must ban the trade in live elephants. These intelligent, wide-ranging animals deserve to live in the wild — not be ripped from their homes and sold into captivity.

Sign our petition to tell the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to ban the trade in African elephants — both trophies and live animals. Nothing less will prevent their extinction.
