Yesterday Ashley Dyball told the ABC News that the Australian Federal Police was free to charge him if they felt that helping innocent women and children and fighting against the barbarity of Daesh was against the national interest and made him the "bad guy". For nearly a year Ashley has lived in limbo and since July has been unable to travel due to having his passport confiscated by the Federal Authorities. Under the Foreign Incursions Laws, the Government may withdraw a passport indefinitely and without reason. Again and again, the Federal Government has made a bipartisan statement that they do not distinguish between opposing sides in the Syrian War. That an Australian who fights for the YPG is no different to one who fights for an Islamic terrorist group, that there are "no good guys or bad guys, just bad guys". This is of course baloney as Australia bombs the bad guys on behalf of the good guys. In the interim they won't make a decision whether to charge Ashley Dyball and Matthew Gardiner and prefer to leave them to live in limbo, constantly monitored and unable to travel or gain full time employment. Get Real George Brandis. We are all Ashley Dyball, if we are the bad guys, charge all of us.
