Lions for Lambs: Australia's Newest Political Prisoner

Renas Lelikan has been formally charged for being a member of a Terrorist Organization and today was denied bail by a Sydney Court. This of course means that Renas must remain in remand in prison where he will naturally become a prime target for sympathizers of ISIL / Daesh.
The Magistrate ruled that the argument of the defence amounted to "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" and that there "is no difference between PKK and ISIL". On my part, Renas is a Heval and all Kurds in turn are my friends as this prosecution is very clear; the entire Kurdish struggle is on trial and in turn the Kurd diaspora in Australia, whether sympathetic to the PKK or not.
Renas is a political prisoner, an expedient and convenient scapegoat with which to appease Turkey. The charge has nothing to do with making Australia safer or national security. In many ways we are less of a country today than we were yesterday.
During World War 1 a German Soldier said of the British Soldier, “Never have I seen such Lions led by such Lambs". Renas is a man with a heart of a Lion and a soul of a Lamb and I have no doubt he will survive this ordeal and this betrayal by his adopted homeland. The Australian Government on the other hand needs to take a hard look at itself and where it truly stands on higher principles such as truth and justice and find the courage it needs to make the distinction it needs to make. Release Renas Lelikan now.
