Robert Somerville, a Combat Veteran of the Canadian Army and a YPG Volunteer arrived in Australia recently to visit his Father who he had not seen in 20 years. On arrival he was detained by immigration authorities for failing to list his Kurdish nickname on his immigration card. This of course was a bogus excuse meant to justify a deportation because of his service in YPG. Rather than destroy any chance of returning to Australia by contesting the deportation and getting a stamp anyway, Robert elected to live voluntarily. This is a family matter, Robert is not a threat to Australia's security or radicalized in any way and should be allowed to visit Australia to reconnect with his Father.
