This petition remains open until the Government declares amnesty for the Australians who have volunteered with the YPG and Peshmerga against ISIL/Daesh.
Until amnesty is granted those Australian who may still be in Syria or Iraq fighting for legitimate coalition partners against Daesh face life in prison and possible loss of citizenship.
Until amnesty is granted any Australian who has already travelled to the region to fight Daesh is considered a criminal and subject to investigation and possible prosecution.
The aim of this petition is to seek amnesty for these Australians or get the YPG and Peshmerga exempt under the Foreign Fighters Bill. Until that happens it has not achieved it aim. Jamie Williams and Ashley Dyball and others could still be punished for trying to make a stand against evil.
