The following data is from the recent election in Iran that was released by a group affiliated with the regime's Interior Ministry responsible for conducting elections and announcing its results. This data shows that except for a few provinces, the highest ranked elected individuals had received votes of only 2-4 % of the eligible voters. In Teheran the largest city in Iran, this number was 2%. In comparison in 1980 the highest ranked individual in Tehran was elected by over 95% of the eligible voters . Considering that the population of Tehran has grown significantly, this shows how low the participation of Iranians was in the recent election. According to this data and other reports, over 80% of Iranians had boycotted this election and some of those who were forced to participate, casted invalid ballots. This indicates the high degree of the regime's unpopularity at home. Iranians are waiting for the next opportunity to remove this regime and replace it with a democratic government by and for Iranians.
