On September 30, we met with Stephanie Cooper, Undersecretary for the office of Energy and Environmental Resources; Rebecca Mulrean, Director of Food System Resiliency; and Paolo DiFabio, Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary Tepper. Also at the meeting were two people from the Governor’s Office: Amanda Dew, Policy & Cabinet Affairs Liaison and Emily Carrara, Legislative Affairs Liaison. The advocates ranged from federally licensed rehabbers, bald eagle monitors, Mass Audubon, and activists from Lexington, Woburn, Lowell, and Arlington. We covered a range of topics such as the history of this petition, the test results and statistics relating to the bald eagle, the broad support across the state, the devastating experience of treating the rodenticide victims, the state’s lack of action on this issue, the lack of transparency and action taken when an animal is found sick or dead, the need for more prompt action in the Biodiversity Matrix, and the need for the state to prohibit ARs on state properties and in their contract language. We will share more in the coming days but we wanted to thank everyone that signed, shared, and supported this effort - the amount of support that the petition garnered allowed us to make this meeting a reality.
