Nov 20, 2019

Please join us at the intersection of 16th Avenue and Utopia Parkway in Whitestone, Queens on Thursday, November 21st at 6:30pm for a street naming ceremony to remember and honor Maddie.

Thank you for your support over the past 17 months. Maddie's aunt, Rita, has been working closely with Families for Safe Streets, an incredible advocacy and support group for families affected by traffic violence.

Some of the work we have accomplished this year include:

• increasing the number of speed cameras, their hours of operation, and expanding their zones of placement (bill was signed in May 2019). The group worked tirelessly to get speed cameras turned back on before school started in the fall.
• supporting the Reckless Driver Accountability Act, which will enforce more penalties for drivers who have multiple speeding and red light camera violations
• ongoing discussions with elected officials and driving specialists to design legislation to promote conversations between doctors and their patients regarding driving and their medical situations including medications.

Please continue to share this petition to help us reach the 25,000 signature milestone. We will then deliver the petition to Governor Andrew Cuomo and DMV Commissioner Mark J.F. Schroeder. Thank you for your ongoing support in helping to make our streets safer.
