With yesterday’s news that thousands of flight attendants will possibly be furloughed in October it is more important than ever that we share this petition with as many people as possible and draw as much attention as possible to this issue that is so vital to our careers. It is imperative that the company understands they need to close the foreign bases first before they furlough any US based flight attendants. The company took billions from tax payers and must be held accountable with US based tax paying flight attendants. Foreign base flight attendants DO NOT pay taxes in the US and therefore it is only fair that we do not lose our jobs before they do. We know this is a painful time for everyone however remember that last time there was a furlough in 2001, Latin America based Flight Attendants kept their jobs while US based flight attendants were furloughed, many for 10+ years. This CANNOT happen again.
