What is Redistricting?!
Following each census, governments evaluate and redraw the lines that indicate representation and responsibility. (Side note, if you haven't yet completed the Census, Please do so today to make sure your tax dollars reach local community needs! https://2020census.gov/en.html

In a time when we are more aware than ever of how much representation matters and how often people have been overlooked, having a redistricting process shaped by your feedback is critical. In 2011, Alameda County held about half as many community meetings regarding how the county lines should be drawn than they did in 2001. While the geography and population of our County present challenges in drawing fair maps, we only need look at the fact that one city in the County has a majority of the representation to see that an open process can only help improve our maps and ensure fair representation.
