We have good news to end the week! We’ve just heard from Anthony Eisen, Afterpay’s Co-Founder and CEO. He’s told us that Afterpay will no longer use their advertisement featuring Rebel Wilson explaining buy now pay later to a child. Thank you for supporting our petition calling on Afterpay to pull the ad. We couldn’t have achieved this without you. We welcome this decision from Afterpay and will continue to advocate to address the broader issue of the harm that buy now pay later poses. Buy now pay later is a form of credit, but is not subject to the same consumer protections as other credit products. This needs to change and that is where our energy will be going.
