Faith and Daniel went to the hospital where Faith was planning to receive surgery. However, after checking in and having blood work and other pre-surgical steps completed, they were told that there were not enough beds in the hospital and to come back in approximately three weeks. This is very disappointing for us all, especially Faith, who has been eagerly awaiting the next phase of surgeries on her neck, eye, and mouth. According to Daniel, Faith was “really frustrated and heartbroken. She was really ready for this. When we were told that there weren’t any beds, she didn’t say a single word.”
Please leave a message of support for Faith here. Daniel reads these to her daily and they really do make a difference in lifting her mood, especially when there is so much frustration in this process. You can also read more here about what Faith will do as she waits to be admitted into the hospital.
For those who have recently signed the petition, Faith is an acid attack survivor from Uganda whom Daniel met while doing research for the law against acid attacks we are preparing. She had never received medical treatment in the 20 years she has been a survivor and thanks to your donations, we were able to help get her a first round of surgeries at Mulago Hospital in Kampala. She was told to return for a second round of surgeries on May 1, but since returning to Kampala, has been waiting to be admitted. She and her sister Scovia are staying at Daniel's house in Kampala as they wait.
