When I began this petition I never expected it to get this much attention, now, over 3 million people have signed our petition demanding justice for Elijah McClain. In huge news, Governor Polis announced today that Attorney General Weiser will be reopening the investigation into Elijah’s death.

This is a massive win for our campaign! Elijah’s family has been demanding justice for a year since he passed, and thanks to pressure from around the country, Colorado was finally forced to listen to them. It shouldn’t take this kind of pressure to hold law enforcement accountable, but we won’t stop until we get justice for Elijah.

Elijah’s killers are still free and policing the Aurora community. As the investigation gets under way we need to keep up the pressure for these officers to face justice.

I didn’t know Elijah personally, but he was part of my community. My mom sometimes got massages at his place of work, and he could have easily been a neighbor or a classmate. 

I want to live in a community where everyone is safe to walk to the store to pick up some ice tea. I want to thank everyone so much for sharing and signing this petition, one day this action won’t be necessary. Continue fighting for Elijah.
