Hey, all. I have found out today that Vertex Pharmaceuitcals subsidiary ViaCyte has elected to opt-out of their development parternship for gene-edited stem cell therapies for the treatment of diabetes. As a result, the collaboration's assets, which includes CTX211, will now be wholly owned by CRISPR, with ViaCyte entitled to a royalty on future product sales. CRISPR intends to continue advancing a Phase 1 trial for CTX211 for the treatment of type 1 diabetes.

The opt-out will become effective in early February.

CRISPR has added that Vertex will continue to have rights to certain CRISPR/Cas 9 for the development of potentially curative therapies for type 1 Diabetes. I am amazed by the development of this potential cure for Type 1 Diabetes. And I hope that It will become available for everyone later in the year, so that they can live in a world without diabetes type one.
