Two weeks ago I decided to step away from my petitioning efforts after getting ignored one too many times for my personal noggin. After taking some time off to rest my brain I believe there is still an opportunity to make this change a reality.
I worked really hard to acquire nearly 200 signatures, and I would like to continue to work really hard to get as many more signatures as it takes to abolish discriminatory bag policy enforcement. Regardless of scale, bad bag policies are still negatively impacting innocent community members. They may not affect you, or those in charge at Opportunity Village, but they do affect someone.
I do not believe we should be comfortable normalizing or excusing the premature and inaccurate criminalization of poor people, especially during a time when most across this country may be as poor as they have ever been. In reality, the rich steal much more from the poor through wage inequality and tax exemption, but I'll wake that up another day. 🤪
