We have great news to share - Claire is home!
96,000 people - including you - backed our petition to get Claire home, after she was moved to a treatment centre hundreds of miles away in Brighton. Claire has autism but we always believed she should be near to the people who love her most not hundreds of miles away.
Two weeks ago we got the news we had been hoping for, Claire was taken off the mental health register and allowed home. She is staying with us and we have been promised more support for her in our home.
It is wonderful to have Claire back. She is so pleased, and we are all over the moon. There is a still a lot to organise but right now the the relief is overwhelming.
We want to say a huge thank you to all of you for supporting us.
We also want to thank Mencap who have been very supportive throughout this process: www.mencap.org.uk
They are other families in Wales who are also struggling to get their children with autism the care they need. The National Autistic Society have started a petition calling on the Welsh Government to introduce an Autism Act for Wales. We think it would help a lot of people. You can add your support here: https://act.autism.org.uk/ea-action/action?ea.client.id=10&ea.campaign.id=33445
Thank you again. You will never know how much your comments and support have meant to us over the last three months.
Thank you,
Cath
