Flamingoes could lose 80 hectares of wetlands and mangroves to Golf Course in Navi Mumbai behind NRI Complex and TS Chanakya Institute exposing the Palm Beach and residents of this area to floods in monsoon as happened in Chennai in December 2015. According to a study done by Care earth trust, a chennai based bio diversity research organisation, only 15% of the city’s wetlands are remaining. As the city expanded, more than 150 water bodies were encroached and turned into human habitation. We, in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, do not seem to have learnt any lesson from this as we seem to be paying no heed to the ridiculous abuse of natural resources, the same mistake as committed by Chennai between 1980 and 2010. Time to wake up now. #savebirdingsites #saveBirds #save80hectares #SayNoToGolfCourse #saveTalaweWetlands #CMOMaharashtra #mungatiwar #cidco #cidcobuildernexus #destrucionnotdevelopment #saveNaviMumbaiWetlands #savenaturesavefuture
