🌊 Update: Progress and Next Steps for the Hermosa Beach Pool Initiative! 🌊

We laid great groundwork at the City Council meeting this week! While the session went loooooooong, four amazing speakers stepped up to present our initial pitch for a community pool to City Council. And though the rules state they can't respond during public comments, all five of the councilmen received it with huge smiles! 💙 Next move: We return to City Council and ask them to agendize the swimming pool or to pass it to Parks and Rec for exploration.

Big Insight: City Council is considering reclaiming the Hermosa Self Storage space as a city asset with a focus on profitability. This is our moment! They are contemplating turning it into a parking lot, and Mayor Saemann even suggested we consider a parking lot with "something on top." ChatGPT helped me draft a concept that includes both parking and a pool — and it's stunning!

Now, here's what we need to do:

Show Public Support: Share the petition far and wide to gather more signatures. Every signature counts!
Write a Letter to the Editor: The Daily Breeze and Easy Reader are powerful platforms to amplify our message.
Email City Council: Let them know how much a community pool would mean to you! Reach out at citycouncil@hermosabeach.gov.
Speak at City Council Meetings: These are held every other Tuesday at 6 PM. Attend, speak, and make our voices heard. Personal stories about how a pool would impact your family, friends, and community can be incredibly powerful.
Advocate directly to City Councilmen. These five make themselves accessible to the residents, reach out to them, share your feelings and your stories.
