残念ながら、昭和期の宇宙SFをリードし続けた「宇宙戦艦ヤマト」や「銀河鉄道999」の漫画家、松本零士氏が2月13日に急性心不全のため亡くなりました。享年は85歳でした。
松本零士氏を尊敬する多くの巨匠が存在しますが、その中でも「マクロスシリーズ」を手掛ける監督の河森正治氏は、松本零士氏の影響を受けてアニメに興味を持ったと公言しています。13年前の2010年10月10日、徳島で行われたマチアソビvol.4「河森正治 with 氷川竜介『アニメーション監督という職業』」の講演で、河森監督はその思い出を語りました。当日、私自身も香川県から車で来て、河森正治監督が座っている前列の中央で聴講していました。
河森監督は、松本零士氏が手掛けたアニメ「宇宙戦艦ヤマト」が彼のアニメへの興味を引き起こしたきっかけであると述べています。その後、中学3年生の頃からスタジオぬえに遊びに行くようになり、高校生の頃にはスタジオぬえでアルバイトを始め、それがアニメ制作に携わるきっかけとなり、今日のマクロスシリーズに繋がっていったのだと言っています。

Unfortunately, on February 13th, Leiji Matsumoto, the manga artist who led the space SF of the Showa period with works such as "Space Battleship Yamato" and "Galaxy Express 999," passed away from acute heart failure at the age of 85.
There are many great masters who respect Leiji Matsumoto, but among them, director Shoji Kawamori, who works on the "Macross" series, has stated that he became interested in anime because of Matsumoto's influence. At the Machi Asobi vol. 4 "Shoji Kawamori with Ryuusuke Hikawa 'The Occupation of an Animation Director'" lecture held in Tokushima 13 years ago in October 2010, director Kawamori spoke about his memories. On that day, I myself came by car from Kagawa prefecture and listened to the lecture sitting in the center of the front row where Director Kawamori was sitting.
Director Kawamori said that the anime "Space Battleship Yamato" by Leiji Matsumoto was the trigger that sparked his interest in anime. After that, he started visiting Studio Nue from his third year of junior high school, and began working part-time at Studio Nue during his high school years. This became the opportunity for him to get involved in anime production, leading to the Macross series we know today.
