📢 Fair Salary for Nurses – Recognizing Their Role & Sacrifices! 🏥
Nurses play a vital role in healthcare, saving lives every day. Despite their hard work, Sri Lankan nurses are still not paid fairly! The government has appointed a Pay Commission, but it must recognize nurses' qualifications, responsibilities, and the health risks they face.
📌 Why Do Nurses Deserve Better Pay?
✅ Nurses have a Higher National Diploma (SLQF Level 7 or 8)—the highest-scoring diploma in Sri Lanka!
✅ They perform critical medical tasks like:
🔹 Catheterization
🔹 NG tube insertion
🔹 Phlebotomy
🔹 Preventing infections in hospitals
🔹 Coordinating with doctors & specialists
🔹 Supporting and advocating for patients & families
⚠ The Hidden Dangers of Nursing
🚨 Nurses work long hours, including night shifts, which increase the risk of serious health problems like:
❌ Cancer due to disrupted sleep cycles
❌ Physical injuries from lifting patients
❌ Exposure to infections & chemicals
❌ Mental & emotional stress
🌍 The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes nurses as frontline workers, just like doctors. So why are nurses not paid fairly?
