Save the FA Cup replays

On April 18th, the English FA confirmed it was phasing out cup replay fixtures from the 1st round proper of the tournament from the beginning of the 2024/25 season.

For clubs lower down the league pyramid, fa cup fixtures generally -  and replay ties at stadiums of the larger clubs specifically - are an important source of income; as broadcast revenue is shared between the clubs.

The decision to scrap the replay structure has drawn heavy criticism from professionals and supporters alike. The Football Supporters Assocation - who's 2023 survey found that 69% of fans had a supportive view of replays - has passed along its 'serious concerns to the FA'.
