Peggy Flanagan is an American politician and Native American activist who has been serving as the 50th Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota since 2019. She is a member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL). Prior to her role as Lieutenant Governor, Flanagan served as a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019. Her educational background includes a high school diploma from St. Louis Park Public Schools and a Bachelor’s degree in American Indian Studies and Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota. Flanagan has also worked as the Director of External Affairs at Wellstone Action, Executive Director at Children’s Defense Fund-Minnesota, and a Partner at The Management Center.
