Niki Tsongas is an American lawyer and retired politician who served as a U.S. Representative from Massachusetts from 2007 to 2019. She is particularly notable for being the first woman in 25 years to represent Massachusetts in Congress. A Democrat, Tsongas effectively championed causes including education, affordable housing, economic development, military families, and environmental conservation. In addition to her political career, Tsongas co-founded the first all-female law firm in Lowell, Massachusetts. She is the widow of the late former U.S. senator and presidential candidate, Paul Tsongas.
