Gobierno de Ecuador

The Gobierno de Ecuador, or the Government of Ecuador, operates as a democratic republic in South America. The government is based on the constitution and segmented into the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, similar to many Western democracies. The President of Ecuador serves as the head of state and the head of government. The National Assembly is the legislative body and consists of members who are democratically elected to serve the country. Power is kept in check within the government through a series of checks and balances among the three branches.
