Connecticut General Assembly

The Connecticut General Assembly is the state legislature of the U.S state of Connecticut. It is a bicameral body composed of the 151-member House of Representatives and the 36-member Senate. The assembly convenes at the Connecticut State Capitol in Hartford. Members of the House of Representatives serve two-year terms, while senators serve four-year terms. The General Assembly is responsible for creating laws for the state, controlling the state's budget, and serves as a check against the power of the governor. Bill proposals can originate in either house and must be passed by a majority in both houses to become law.
