Marriage is about Love, Committment, Family.  All Americans deserve the freedom to choose a life partner, to make a lifetime commitment, to share the love and bonds of family, to marry. The right to marry the person one loves, the person one chooses, is a basic civil right of man. The United States Supreme Court has affirmed that marriage is a civil right 14 times in the last 40 years, yet gay and lesbians couples are denied the right to make the committment of marriage and form a family in 42 states. This is the last leg of the Civil Rights movement.  It is un-American to segregate committed couples from joining the institution of Marriage just because they are gay, just because of the gender of the person they love.  Democrats have the opportunity to lead in the 21st century and make America more American on the day all its citizens have the legal freedom to marry, the freedom to choose their life partner, the freedom to make a life long committment.
