The CPS School Board voted to hand over neighborhood public schools – including Piccolo and Casals Elementary on Chicago's west side--to politically connected private agency, AUSL. CPS claims the schools have failed and want to do a Turnaround- fire teachers and staff- but school officials have DENIED their role in underfunding and mismanaging these schools for more than five years. IL Parents continue their protest and state legislators have responded with bills that would put a hold on Turnarounds and school closures for a year while making CPS work with the school community on clear plans for school improvement and accountability. We the undersigned support HB4487,  SB3239 and the larger effort to stop handing our schools over to private agencies.
