The African lion population is decreasing and it's not just occurring in Africa. In the U.S., lions are being killed so consumers can eat a lion steak or lion burger. We must ensure this beautiful species' survival by sending a clear message to those who sell lion meat that this practice is unacceptable and must be stopped immediately. Your support of this petition is urgently needed and very much appreciated. Let's do our part to ensure that the African lion is around for future generations. Please say no to lion meat, lion parts, trophy hunting, and any another activities that needlessly decimate the lion population.

The African lion - one of Africa's most iconic animals - has experienced an alarming population decrease since the 1950's. Today there are only 18,000 - 20,000 lions remaining in Africa and the actual number may be much lower.

The sale of this endangered animals's meat is highly irresponsible and must stop. 

African Lion Facts: 

The lion has vanished from over 80% of its historic range.

The lion is now extinct in 26 countries and can be found in only 7 countries.

Lions are currently listed as “Vulnerable” on the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species; and in West and Central Africa, the species is now classified as “Endangered.”
