In response to the earthquake Haiti, mobile carriers gave mobile phone donations to relief groups as soon as you texted. But for Japan, they weren’t, which meant 30 to 90 days between sending your text message and a donation reaching Japan.
When he learn this, Masaya Uchino sprang into action – creating a petition that called on the mobile companies to remit donations for Japan in the same way they did for Haiti. One of his Senators, Barbara Boxer, took note of his efforts and joined the call – writing all the CEOs of AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon asking them to expedite donations.
Now two weeks after the launch of the petition, which gathered a total of 66,000 signatures, the phone companies have all agreed immediately pass donations along to Japan.
Around the world, people like you and me are responding in any way we can to help Japan. But one of the easiest ways to help - texting to give by mobile - actually isn't the help it sounds like.
During the response to Haiti, cellphone companies processed mobile donations to relief organizations right away. But for Japan, they aren't making this same exception and it could take as much as 90 days for donations to reach people in need.
Please help convince them to immediately processes donations so donations reach where they are needed now.

In response to the Haiti Relief Effort, carriers are remitting donations immediately to nonprofit organizations. Generally, the typical time frame for remittance is based upon the billing cycles of the donors and can take, on average, 90 days from time of donation for the charity to receive the funds."

Remove the wait time on donations to Japan
Greetings,
The twin disasters of the earthquake and tsunami that pummeled the eastern coast of Japan have been incomprehensible in their scale, and deserve our best efforts to help the millions of people affected recover.
The scale of this tragedy will stretch international recovery efforts to their limits, and any additional resources that are contributed should be put to use as soon as possible.
Currently, there is a wait time of up to 90 days for mobile donations to reach those in need in Japan. This is unacceptable. Tens of thousands of people still need to be rescued and even more require aid and support. By signing on to this petition, you will be helping to have money remitted to those in need as soon as possible.
Thank you,
