The costs of replacing the historic bridge with a modern structure will be huge:
· $12 million+ in Federal and State (NY and PA) highway funds
· the loss of a unique historical structure
· environmental damage to the Delaware River in the construction phase – estimated at 1-2 years
· economic damage to local tourism and recreational businesses by closing the Delaware River for at least one season
