Father Bob is a national icon. Every week he is heard nationally on Radio JJJ with John Safran on Sunday nights. He has lived and worked in South Melbourne for over 40 years. His work in South Melbourne is of great importance to both the parish and broader community. He stands for social justice and works tirelessly for the poor and disadvantaged. The Presbytery is his home and he should be permitted to continue living there whilst he is still active and able to continue his work. When he requires assistance a younger priest can be appointed as his assistant. His pews overflow and he is respected and desperately needed by the Sth Melbourne Parish and broader community. We object to him being removed and demand that Archbishop Hart re-instate Father Bob as Parish Priest of South Melbourne without restriction.
