As part of a healthy, sustainable lifestyle the raising of backyard chickens for egg production is very important. Home raised chickens produce eggs that are more nutritious and flavorful than the store bought variety. Female chickens, hens, make little noise and present little to no health risk. The goal of this petition is to convince the Board of Health to change the current ordinance prohibitting chickens to allow residents to keep up to six hens in secure enclosures.
