Messages are constantly being marketed to children that reinforce negative perceptions and ideas of what it means to be girl and boy. Girls are incessantly told that looks are the most important thing about them and boys grow up believing that. We need to break down these stereotypes so that both boys and girls are free to make choices and pursue interests that come naturally to them without fear.
