We disagree that a merger between Rutgers Camden and Rowan is the best way to improve higher education in South Jersey.  We believe that both Rutgers Camden and Rowan should retain their unique identities.  We further believe that we can form cooperative agreements between Rowan and Rutgers Camden that will enhance the educational mission of both institutions while preserving their autonomy.  This is the way to give students in our region the best educational opportunities: by providing them choices.

The taxpayers of New Jersey deserve a fuller fiscal and educational accounting before being forced to commit to radical changes to education in southern New Jersey.  Instead of a hostile takeover, we believe that all stakeholders can benefit if we work to build successful cooperation agreements that enhance the future for the state, the region, and the city of Camden.
