The peninsula of Macau is home to a single dog track called the Canidrome. At the Canidrome, nearly 400 greyhounds are put to death every year. Brooklyn is one of those dogs.

According to the Macau Daily Times, dogs race four times a week. If they finish outside the top three in five races in a row, they are destroyed. The head of Macau's animal control department has stated that every greyhound arriving at the track is dead within three years and as many as four hundred greyhounds are killed each year.

Please Release Brooklyn and Order an Adoption Program for All Greyhounds at the Canidrome
Dear Dr. Chui Sai On,
As you know, worlwide attention has focused on the suffering and death of greyhounds used for racing at the Canidrome. I am writing about a particular dog named Brooklyn.
Brooklyn is four-years-old and he is a white, red and fawn greyhound. Unfortunately, he has been injured and his immediate future is now very uncertain.
On May 6, Brooklyn fell while racing. Track records document that he was cut and wounded. This was the fourth race in a row in which he has finished in fifth place or worse.
According to the Macau Daily Times, when dogs finish outside the top three in five races in a row, they are destroyed. The head of Macau's animal control department has stated that every greyhound arriving at the track is dead within three years and as many as four hundred greyhounds are killed each year.
Brooklyn’s days are numbered and I am asking you to order his release. I also ask that you force track officials to implement a permanent adoption program for all greyhounds at the facility.
As long as dog racing continues at the Canidrome, greyhounds will suffer as will the reputation of Macau. For the sake of the greyhounds and to protect the honor of Macau, please act now.
